Thanks Sam…
For promoting our event

Event Submission form

You can promote your Youth Work event for free on our website. All you have to do is fill in the form below.

Your event may be a one - off or alternatively it can be something that takes place as part of your regular programme. You might find it easier when writing about your event, to refer to the text promoting other events so you get a feel for the copy style we are looking for (go to the events listing in the Young People’s section). Also, you are more than welcome to talk to any of your fellow organisers to exchange ideas and pick up tips from them on how they set up their events.

All fields marked with * must be completed before the event can be added.

Please note: This is the person we will contact if we have queries concerning the information supplied. This information will not appear on the website or in the What’s on guides.

Event description*

Short description of your event, maximum of 400 characters. Remember, you should write about your event as if you were explaining it to a young person. Write to them in their language on a one to one basis, rather than in the third person. Use ‘we’ and/or ‘I’ and not ‘they’ or ‘it’. The writing needs to be informal and easy to understand, using phrases young people are familiar with! For help, click on the ‘Creative writing tips’ link below.

Creative writing tips
  1. Be single minded. What is the most important information about your event that you want to impart? What do you want the young person to remember?
  2. Don’t miss out any vital information, such as dates or contact information. One effective way to do this is to consider the ‘W’s. In other words: Who? What? Where? Why? When?
  3. Don’t waffle. Keep sentences short and to the point so that your key messages are communicated clearly.
  4. Don’t use jargon or phrases that your customers might not understand, or techie-speak that makes your copy hard to read.
  5. Keep a clear picture in your head of the young people you want to reach. Try and think how he or she would think. What language would they adopt? What phrases would they use? Write your copy from their perspective.
  6. Speak to your readers on a one-to-one. Always write in the first person. Use ‘we’ and/or ‘I’ and not ‘they’ or ‘it’
