The Youth Work in Wales Excellence Awards 2010 took place in the SWALEC Stadium, Cardiff on 18 March and it really was a glitzy occasion. The awards were split into two categories – Individual Youth Workers and Youth Projects and nine winners were announced in true ‘Oscar’ style. But this was not a night about winners and losers. This was a night about celebration. All the finalists can feel justifiably proud of what they have achieved. They have been recognised by colleagues and fellow professionals as inspirational examples of excellence and these awards were our chance to say thank you on behalf of all the young people whose lives they have enhanced.

Make no mistake, being a winner or finalist for these awards represents a fantastic achievement. It’s big news indeed, and it’s news that we think should be shared by everyone. So we have uploaded the photos that appeared in the commemorative brochure and the video clips of all the finalists, which was played to the audience on the night.

Please do take the opportunity to download whatever you need and help us to celebrate our winners and finalists achievements by using these videos and photos in your publicity. This is your chance to say ‘Thanks Sam’ to our devoted, talented and very special finalists!

Photographic Consent

Please be aware that it has been imperative to gain photographic and filming permission from every adult featured in the pictures and the videos. While everyone under 18 who has been filmed or photographed has had to supply a Welsh Assembly Government form signed by a parent or guardian as proof of consent.

Whilst our agency endeavoured to ensure that written consent had been received from everyone concerned, we cannot be held responsible for anyone who has slipped the net and failed to provide us with a form.

It is therefore crucial to understand that you must be absolutely sure that every adult or young person featured in the photos or videos you use have provided their consent. You can refer to the file attached. It indicates the people who we believe have appeared in the videos and photos, and lists those who have supplied consent forms. Please check the list before you publish any material. Thanks for your help in this important matter.
