Well, Sam’s not a pop star, sporting icon or TV personality but to many young people, Sam’s special.
Because, as a youth worker, Sam provides help and advice and gives young people the chance to make new friends, learn new skills and experience new things. Sam represents all of us involved in Youth Work.
There are thousands of ‘Sams’ out there, working tirelessly for young people in Wales.
At the last count there were 20,000 ‘Sams’ inspiring over 200,000 young people in the Youth Service. But we need more! Have you got what it takes to have a great career in Youth Work? You’ll need to be skilled, enthusiastic and dedicated. But if you have these attributes, then you won’t find a more rewarding, challenging and fulfilling job. In fact, the more you look into the possibilities of carving out a career in Youth Work, the more you’ll see why so many thousands of people in Wales choose to work with young people.
To find out more, download the careers information leaflet below. It will give you a great idea of what it’s like to be a youth worker. Even better, why not ask your youth worker if you and your friends can take part in some of the workshops and activities suggested in the pack? You’ll have some fun – we promise!
